Hardened cop Sam O'Neill knew a meddlesome woman when he saw one. He'd saved cocktail waitress Angie Rivers during a bank holdup, but he couldn't get her pretty face or the feel of her silky skin out of his head. She made him lose his focus—she softened his heart—and that put both of them knee-deep in danger, because someone wanted Angie dead.
Angie was the only one who could identify the leader of a brutal identity-theft ring. But she was done feeling helpless and vulnerable and was ready to take things into her own hands, despite the tall, dark detective's passionate demands to stay out of trouble—and out of his heart!

this was a good story with some real potential however the absolutely horrible formatting really took away from the book. Throughout the book, the reader comes across words that were spaced out in such a way that you had to read the sentence twice to understand what the author was saying... for example in the first chapter, you run across the following sentence " If she hadn't written the rent check, if she hadn't for got ten to come to the bank yesterday". or in Chapter 2 "It felt.....in credible" or " the news pa per didn't say..." While at first it doesn't seem like a big deal, trust me when i say that it becomes ridiculously annoying when it happens at least 4 times (if not more) per chapter. its sad because this is a easy read and takes away from the story as the reader becomes more caught up in seeing if its going to happen again. I really like Jill Shalvis and I feel bad that I can't give this book a better score, but i honestly spent a lot of time focusing on this then on the actual plot. With regard to the plot, I thought there could have been more character development for Angie. I did enjoy the brooding character of Sam, but the book was only so long and there wasn't a lot of time given to depth of the characters. I did feel like there was this whole back story about Angie and her parents that I was supposed to already be aware of, but that wasn't revealed until the end of the story.
Its an easy read, its a great author, but the formatting for kindle will begin to annoy you after awhile.

Again, Shalvis is always good
Read this in 2 days. Fantastic book.
I am a big Jill Shalvis fan! She's such a great story teller - lots of loveable, colourful characters and engaging story lines.
I liked the book but on the kindle the words were spaced out and it was hard to understand it.
The story line was ok, predictable, but ok. The book read like a draft. There were so many grammatical and word choice errors, that it proved difficult to get through. I kept reading, only to see if the errors continued. It was pathetic that the publisher released this book. I deserve my money back. My 11 year old could have done a better job editing this.
The story is warm & wonderful. I'm having problems with s presentation of spelling and grammar in the translations of authors I am familiar with...the last 2 books I have read, this one by Shavis and the last one by Sheryl Woods have been riddled with errors. I can only believe it is whatever 's current method of translated printed text to e-reader is problematic. Please fix this. Good authors & faithful readers don't deserve this disservice.
Angie was a delightful, sweet, adorable heroine. Just the right match for hard nosed but hunky hero Sam. Jill Shalvis always produces terrific storylines and I love her writing. There were several editing problems, but they didn't hurt the story. It was bothersome to come across words that were split (i.e., "for gotten" versus "forgotten"). I had to re-read those sentences to figure out the line of thought. I'm only mentioning it here so word might get back to the people responsible for these many snafus. Her fans enjoy her books too much to have these type of glitches marring the flow. Although I only discovered Ms. Shalvis in mid-June 2014, I am an avid fan with 54 books purchased in my electronic library. Because I enjoy her stories so much, she still deserves a 5-Star Rating. Just have patience, fellow readers.
